“Coast Guard cutter undergoing repairs catches fire at Port Tampa Bay” –Tampa Bay Times

The Tampa Bay Times reports a fire on USCGC Benjamin Dailey, Friday night, December 10, while in dry dock. The cutter is based in Pascagoula, MS. It reportedly took 45 minutes to bring the fire under control.

  1. Have things changed as far as watches or personnel on the ship during a yard period? While I was assigned to the Confidence during a yard period we stood security watches which included rounds throughout the ship. Granted this is a bit smaller but where were all the crew?

  3. The vessel is listed as inactive reserve status and is laid up at BRF Beaumont, Texas. It was stricken from the rolls with decommissioning occurring on Sept 6, 2022.
