Interesting little video about an aids to navigation marker I don’t believe I had ever heard of. Appears to perform the same function as the more familiar range lights, but it appears easier to pick out from the background.

I spent most of a 38 year mapping/charting career as a Nautical Cartographer. I can’t recall ever hearing of this kind of aid in use anywhere. Of course, I didn’t chart the ENTIRE world in those 38 years.
I think it is a European thing.
