Interesting little piece of trivia. Acting Secretary of the Navy Thomas W. Harker was (is?) a Coast Guard Commander. USNI reports his first message to the fleet.

  1. I spent two and a half years coaching plebes and midshipmen sailing at the USNA. Each day before my boat would get underway, I would have my crew recite, “The Coast Guard is Your Friend.”
