The Coast Guard partnering with the Space Force is a great idea, and not just because they’re the two smallest branches of the US military.
This is probably the science fiction novelist in me talking, but…
Since the Space Force calls their servicemembers “Guardians,” I think they should be named the Space Guard or the Orbit Guard. After all, they’re not projecting military power into deep space (like the Navy and Air Force project military power overseas). They’re only guarding the satellites in orbit — the Earth’s coast, so to speak — so they should be named the Orbit Guard, as they have much more in common with the Coast Guard than the Navy or Air Force.
