The Coast Guard held a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the official opening of the new Coast Guard Station Fort Myers Beach facility, March 13, 2024, in Fort Myers.   1. Looking at the Google Maps street view images from 2019 the old structure didn’t look that bad.

    But then looking at the Google Maps aerial views of the site during construction it looks like the new structures primary purpose was to move all primary work/living space up above flood levels. With all ground level space appearing to be open/garage type areas.

    Understandable.

    I would also note that they’re occupying some damn prime real estate
