1872  Congress ordered that Life-Saving stations were to be erected “under supervision of two captains of the revenue service.”  An Act of Congress authorized government life-saving stations on Cape Cod and Block Island.

1922  Congress readjusted pay and allowances of Coast Guard commissioned and enlisted personnel on basis of equality with other services.  Until this time a Coast Guard captain was equivalent to a Navy lieutenant commander.

Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC)

2020  The Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Information Technology Service Center (C4ITSC) was disestablished and the Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Cyber, and Intelligence Service Center (C5ISC) was established at a commissioning ceremony held on 10 June 2020 on grounds of the Coast Guard property in Alexandria, VA, formerly known as USCG Washington Radio Station (NMH) and later TISCOM.  The facility was formerly renamed COGARD C5ISC Alexandria VA.

  1. Hopefully now that conservatives are in charge the services will STOP RENAMING EVERYTHING on a regular basis incurring huge cost in the transformation. Renaming things should NOT be a plus, and certainly NOT advance your career.

  2. C5ISC is now on the chopping block as a name and as a command.

The CG is following the Navy’s path and going to PEO’s (Program Executive Office‘s). This will all be under the new Deputy COMDT for Systems (DCS). I believe DCS is migrating from DCMS??

Under Force Design 2028, C5ISC will be disestablished and split up into (you guessed it) at least three different PEO’s (w/an O-6 in charge of each PEO).

Some possible scenarios are: PEO C4I, PEO-Software, PEO-OT (Operational Technology).

There are major changes coming to the CG, again!!

There should be a wiki page just dedicated to the CG and it’s various names / command structures over the past 40 years.

    Areas and MLC’s

    Groups & Sectors

    SUPCEN’s

    ISC’s

    ESU’s/ESD’s

    • Note: The above info is not 100% but close to what may be happening. But, C5ISC, as the CG’s largest command, is going away within 2 years.
