Two Chinese ships collided in the South China Sea on Monday.

A China Coast Guard vessel was chasing a Philippine ship when it hit one of Beijing’s destroyers.
The smaller China CG cutters appears to have been one of 22 Type 056 corvettes passed from the Chinese Navy to the China CG.
Thanks to Paul for bringing this to my attention.
As I have mentioned elsewhere, all these ships are faster than an OPC. We could fix that on some of the later ships.
Good shiphandling and observance of the rules of the road.
Somebody is in trouble. Who may have more to do with who the COs’ fathers are, than who was being an idiot.
At least 4 crew from the Chinese Coast Guard ship who were at the bow are now either dead or missing.
One aspect that might be concerning is that although the CG bow is badly crumpled in, the destroyer only had a dent and a few scratches. True, the CG ship was smaller/lighter, but if you have a look at the high profile collisions Western naval ships have had, all look very badly damaged, and several have been sunk/abandoned.
This possibly means that China is building their warships with thicker steel, which might mean they have higher survivability. I think it’s something to keep an eye on.

I was a bit surprised at the lack of significant damage to the DDG. Further, despite the damage to the CG ship (a former Naval corvette/light frigate), it didn’t sink, so there’s that.
Maybe they are building their ships better than we expected.
Bet the CCGC was all back full
Yes, I’ve noticed that too and I have mentioned that in another forum.
