They lost me at this sentence “The Coast Guard have not received the same attention as the SDF”.
They don’t explain who or what the SDF is?
It just pops up twice in the first paragraph without explanation.
Sorry, JSDF or SDF is “Japanese Self Defense Force” or “Self Defense Force.” The armed forces were designated the Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF), the Maritime Self-Defense Force (MSDF), and the Air Self-Defense Force (ASDF).
The JSDF is not well respected in Japan and has been getting a lot of positive publicity for their disaster recovery efforts.
