WAESCHE Exercises with Thai Navy, CARAT 2012

Nice new photo of Waesche, as she and USS Lassen (DDG-82) exercise with three Thai Navy vessels. Two are Chinese built frigates, 455 HTMS Chao Praya (a type 053T) and (I believe) 458 HTMS Saiburi (a type 053HT), both about 1,924 tons full load. The third is a Thai built corvette 533 HTMS Longlom, 630 tons fl.

    • I wish I was with them in Singapore. I can translate for them if they want to…

The official language of Singapore is English.

      • I speak 3 Languages, Thai, Lao and English. I can easily Translate for them and I still have family in Thailand and Laos. On the plus side, I know a few hidden gems in Thailand and know a few good beach front resorts.

  1. Almost seems like the author didn’t know what to call it….should have thrown a Berthoff in there somewhere.

    • At christening NGSS (now Inghals) made a bunch of pewter USSCGC BERTHOLF (WMSL 751) business card holders as swag. The Navy kept putting out reports that referred to the ship as USCGC ELLSWORTH PRICE BERTHOLF (WMSL 751), I guess they were still used to doing testing of the DDG’s. No one understands the names, who can really blame them. For NGSS it should have been a good tell that they weren’t the right ones to build cutters.

  2. Waesche has recently arrived in the Philippines.

Facebook photo here (not sure it will work for those without a facebook account): https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151229872073776&set=a.10151229870223776.571168.314833588775&type=3&theater

The Philippine Coast Guard is participating, a move apparently initiated by the USCG.

Earlier she exercised with Malaysia, photo of her arrival at the Naval Base Lumut Malaysia here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/usnavy/7189544033/in/photostream/
