The following was found here: http://www.timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=32702.0
From “Modern Ships” (chinese mag) July 2012 ed. Literal translation:
“056 – Protectors of the South Sea”

The type 056 is a new Chinese Navy corvette being produced in large numbers by at least four different ship yards.
The 378 in the background is the former USCGC Hamilton, now Gregorio del Pilar (PF-15), still in CG white paint rather than Philippine Navy Gray.
Nothing like stirring the pot.
It probably sells magazines.
Ok, do a Google image search and you come up with this one, but you also come-up with this one: http://www.timawa.net/forum/index.php?topic=32702.15
So someone must be doing photoshop?
If you read that carefully, the “Defeating the Bully” photo is just on the website, created in answer to the magazine cover. It was not on news stands or the popular press.
By the way, check out the Pakistan Defence site, christ it almost looks like the USA’s site.

Some photos of the new Chinese Corvette which is sized between the 210s and 270s here:

There are specs here.

Best coverage yet of these small warships, including many detail pictures of onboard systems. Good picture of flight deck too. http://www.navyrecognition.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=941
Apparently the Chinese have started sea trials on the 17th Type 056 corvette. http://nosint.blogspot.com/2014/09/plans-17th-type-056-corvette-begins-sea.html
Pretty high construction rate.
Report of delivery of the 24th unit of the class delivered in less than three years. http://www.navyrecognition.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3496
These look to be a pretty nice, basic ship design with decent capability and a crew of only 60. I wonder how they compare overall to our 210 and 270’s and how quality the build process is? There is certainly always a case to be made for more hulls and quantity. I doubt anyone on the USCG ever said that had too many ships.
These days our new acquisitions take far too long. If they are indeed a quality design, it sure would be nice to pump out 17 (or similar) of these in 3 years!
They are longer than 270s but lighter. They are a lot faster, but the range is short.

China has launched its 40th Type 056. They are completing one every six weeks. http://www.janes.com/article/65088/china-launches-40th-jiangdao-class-corvette
This from the German Navy blog, Marine Forum, http://marineforum.info/Daily_News/daily_news.html,
