The Daily Mail reports that a Russian Project 22160 corvette has been damaged and possibly sunk.
A contact in Ukraine, that I have been corresponding with for several months, has told me this was related to the loss of the Island class patrol boat P190 Slovyansk, former USCGC Cushing. That Island class patrol boats had enticed the corvette to chase them closer to shore where the corvette was ambushed by a Multiple Launch Rocket System. The former USCGC Cushing was lost in the effort.

The Ukranians had been working on an anti-ship missile. They were supposed to deploy the missile this Spring in coastal-defense batteries.
Unfortunately for them, the Russians invaded before the missiles were deployed.
I’m not sure how many, if any, had actually been produced.
I wonder if there were any ready to go or if they were destroyed in the first minute or two of the conflict. Did the Russian missiles take them out? I still wonder if they can finish production of what is on the line or is that factory gone as well.
I wondered throughout this if the Ukrainians waited too long and lost much in the opening moments. I really believe in “use it or loose it” given the modern lethality of war and trying to escalate slowly is a recipe for failure.
The Ukranian Air Force should take out the Russian amphibious and patrol vessels off the coast. It would be a good use of assets to make an impactful statement to the Russian leadership. The losses that could be incurred by the Russian Navy could be considerable and disproportionate to any aircraft losses the Ukraine Air Force may face by attacking them.
Hopefully the Ukrainians only had a skeleton crew on the bait PB, probably could have done the job with 2-4 crew.
They had to know it was a one way mission.
Maybe they damaged, possibly sunk a different ship
