“Noem says Coast Guard-led tanker seizure near Venezuela was ordered by Trump to combat drug trafficking” –NBC News

NBC News reports,

“Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem on Thursday addressed the U.S. seizure of an oil tanker near Venezuela, saying the Coast Guard–led operation was carried out in coordination with the Departments of Defense and Justice, as well as the FBI.”

You have probably heard about the seizure of this tanker off the coast of Venezuela, but you may not have heard that the team that fast roped down on the tanker was Coast Guard.

  1. Good that nobody was killed or injured, some reports stated the tanker was bound for Cuba, I saw a couple of report that said the boarding was done by Navy Seals, I guess they didn’t figure the Coast Guard was smart enough to board a tanker, but the CG boards ships all the time. I doubt there were any significant drugs on board other than maybe personal use by the crew members or a freelance smuggler – most captains and ship owners of vessels don’t want any issue with legal issues other than maybe turning their AIS off or in this case flying a flag of the country the ship was not registered to.

I disagree with the capture of the vessel and have no comment beyond that in deference to Chuck
