The Dutch KNRM have similar capabilities to launch anything from small inflatables to larger RIBs and 50′ lifeboats over the beach and through surf too.
I think it’s interesting that although the US Lifesaving Service had carriage launched pulling boats that were probably similar to the nineteenth century RNLI fleet somehow the USCG evolved away from beach/surf launching capabilities.
The video you posted is an older generation of Mersey Class lifeboat that the RNLI is replacing the 45′ Shannon Class lifeboats with twin jet drives. I think that the RNLI’s larger lifeboats are all kept afloat or launched via slipways.
